The present and future of data security

Experts interpret cyber security as the implementation of measures, both human and technological (Cains et al., 2021), to safeguard against cyber-attacks which attempt to infiltrate organisational systems. Understanding the need to bolster existing security technologies against the rising strength of cyber-attacks, this report will analyse existing security trends, challenges, and future security possibilities. While cyber security involves consideration for both network and data security, this report will specifically examine security features pertaining to data security such as cloud computing, confidential computing, social engineering, such as phishing, malware attacks and future technology such as quantum cryptography or blockchain technology. Enhancing the security of data is imperative with the advancement of cyber threats, in order to aid organisations to continuously keep up with such threats and secure their data.
